Welcome Aboard the Pipin Airship

Hi all,

I’ve wanted to document my design process for a while now — believe me, I’ve tried. From YouTube Shorts to TikTok stories, Instagram posts, even long-form content… but nothing ever seemed to stick. I think it’s because I was doing too much at once. Designing a 3D-printable model that fits into my universe is already demanding, and I don’t quite have the capacity (yet) to keep up with every platform.

So let’s kick things off here, with the blog — and finally put something on paper.

Welcome aboard the Pipin Airship. This is the flagship of Pipin World, where adventure begins. Choosing the airship as the main stage of Pipin World has been a great decision. I’ve been struggling to “compute” the entire world at once — the vision is vast — but anchoring it with something tangible like the airship helps ground the details of the world a little more.

The scale, colors, and construction of each element are now coming together. The Mimic Treasure Chest, my most recent design, will also find its place onboard — and with it, a few design decisions have now been consolidated across the world.

What is the Pipin Airship?

The Pipin Airship stands as the focal point for players — a home base where most of the first chapter’s interactions will take place. Think of it as the stage that launches Pipin World’s adventure.

How is it Made?

The two main interactions — physical and virtual — are related but come with different requirements.

  • Physically, the airship needs to be printable, lightable, and easy to assemble, while still looking detailed and fun.

  • Since I’ve committed to designing primarily for the Bambu A1 Mini, I’m also embracing its technical constraints. This means ensuring every part fits on the print bed while maximizing customization and keeping assembly a breeze.

How is it Going So Far?

The main cage body has been a success! It allows multi-color panels to slot in easily, giving the airship a rugged, old-school look. The universal Pipin joint holes are featured here too, so players can mix and match any add-ons they wish.
